Three days in South Devon

Weekends away really do make the best Christmas presents (in our opinion anyway!)

This one was Ady's gift to Meg, and he picked it purely on the name of the area that the Airbnb was in - Cockwood! 😂

Day 1

On our first day, we left home nice and early and headed straight to Ness Cove for our first walk of the day. We arrived at around 8am, so had the whole day ahead of us to explore.

Once we had finished at Ness Cove, we moved our car over to the car park in Teignmouth, to complete another walk. It was arguably close enough that we could have walked there (a 40 minute walk) or even gotten a ferry over had it been a little later in the day,

However we were keen to spend as much time as possible exploring. We spent about an hour and a half exploring the coastline there, before moving on to our next destination.

Next we moved the car on again, this time to slightly further down the coast, to Maidencombe beach. We spent about an hour and a half exploring this beach, and the coastal path to Watcombe beach.

By this point it was about 1:30pm, and we had worked up quite an appetite. Luckily our next stop was lunch at a restaurant called The Bucket and Spade, that Meg had booked several weeks previously.

With very full tummies and still tired from our exploring, we were ready to check in to our Airbnb. This was around a 25 minute drive from the restaurant, and once we arrived (and found somewhere to park) we unpacked and settled down for a relaxing evening.

Day 2

Day 2 was another early start, driving around 30 minutes to Babbacombe beach. The car park was already pretty busy when we arrived, so we were glad that we went early.

Next we moved the car to Anstey's Cove to complete another walk. We had originally planned to walk there, but when you see how steep the hill is you will know why we chose to drive instead! ðŸ˜‚ Had it been a little later in the day, we could have also taken the Cliff Railway from Oddicombe, to cut out the hill.

By this point it was pretty much lunchtime, so we headed to Angels tea room for some gluten free scones!

Next we headed to Powderham Castle. It was around a 30 minute drive and we arrived at around 2pm. It shut at 5pm (with last entry to the castle being at 4pm) but we felt we still had plenty of time to see everything.

We do appreciate that some people do things at a slightly slower pace than we do though 😂

By the time we were done with the castle, we felt that it was a little bit too early for our evening meal, so we went back to the Airbnb to chill for a bit. When we were hungry, we drove the 5 minute drive to The Chip Thief to grab some chips to eat at the Airbnb. Once we had 'enjoyed' these, we had an early night ready for Day 3.

Day 3

On our final day, we checked out of the Airbnb and moved our car to the Dawlish Train Station Car park. We then spent the morning exploring Dawlish and Dawlish Warren Beach.

Next we headed to The Home Kitchen for lunch. Here we had quite the feast, and took

With again, very full tummies, it was time to hit the road back home. We had a lovely weekend in South Devon, and both commented on how well they catered to Coeliacs there. We will definitely be back!
