We spent the Easter Bank Holiday in Kent, and were surprised by how nice it was! We travelled down late on the Thursday evening in an attempt to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic, and this meant that we had three full days there before our journey home...

Our Airbnb was this very cute annex of our host's house, and we really appreciated that she was flexible with our check in and check out times!
Day 1

On Day 1 we woke up early to complete a coastal walk that went from Ramsgate to Margate. Our Airbnb was in Botany Bay, so we walked 5 minutes to the beach to pick up the route from there, catching the train from Margate to Ramsgate and then walking back along the coast.

When we reached Kingsgate beach, we stopped for a quick drink at the Captain Digby pub. We have not done a full review of here as we only stayed for a drink, but we recommend it for stunning views of the beach and castle from it's Beer Garden.

Once back at the Airbnb, we jumped in the car for a 15 minute drive to Ramsgate to visit Shakey Shakey fish bar for fish and chips. They do have seating, but as we had Flossie with us we enjoyed our food in the car.

We then returned to the Airbnb for a rest before the next day's activities.
Day 2

On Day 2 we got up early and drove 50 minutes to start the White Cliffs of Dover walk.

After this, we drove 10 minutes to Dover Castle. We were only here for an hour or so as it was so busy that it wasn't enjoyable.

Next we drove around 15 minutes to do a short walk at Samphire Hoe.

We then drove around 40 minutes across Kent to have our tea at The Red Lion - it was totally worth it! After this, we drove around 45 minutes back to the Airbnb to call it a night.

Day 3
On Day 3 we got up early to drive around an hour to do a walk on the Kent Downs. The weather was not great, but the views were still beautiful.

We then drove around 40 minutes to do a walk around Leeds Castle. Although this walk was ok, in hindsight we wish we had gone elsewhere, perhaps somewhere like Whitstable?

We then drove 20 minutes back to the Red Lion for a late Sunday lunch, before heading back to the Airbnb to pack as we were checking out the next morning.

Day 4
On Day 4, we got up super early with plans to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic.

We wanted to break our journey up and make the most of being in the area, so we drove just over 2 hours to visit National Trust - Cliveden.

We spent a couple of hours exploring the stunning grounds, before driving 30 minutes to the Royal Foresters for lunch.

From here, we headed home, content that Kent was a great option for a short break.
