After having our eye on a hike in Llangollen for a few years, and travelling through there whilst on a separate adventure, we were thrilled to finally get the chance to explore this place properly.

Day 1 - George and Dragon, Powys
We wanted to make the most of our short time away, so we opted to travel part-way the night before. We had visited the George and Dragon for food a couple of times before, but this was our first time staying the night - we were definitely not disappointed.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, we got back on the road with our next destination being Llangollen.

We parked up in what felt like the back end of nowhere (in a good way!) and hiked up Cyrn-y-Brain.

Our next stop was our Airbnb for the next couple of nights, around a 25 minute drive away. We were going to be a bit early for check in, so we planned to stop by the town to go and get a cake. However, we quickly discovered that Llangollen gets extremely busy, and we couldn't find any free spaces! We therefore abandoned that plan, we headed straight to the Airbnb.

We were absolutely thrilled with this Shepherd's hut. It was so beautifully decorated, and once we had unpacked and made dinner, we had a couple of hours in the hot tub before settling for a night's rest.

Day 3
On our only full day in Llangollen, we decided to get up super early and hike to Castell Dinas Bran directly from our Airbnb.

We felt so lucky to be able to do this, both because the parking in Llangollen had been so busy the day before, and because we had a view of Castell Dinas Bran from our Airbnb.

We then spent a lot of time at Castell Dinas Bran trying to spot our Airbnb in the distance!

After all of that hiking, we had definitely worked up an appetite so we walked along the canal to Ivy Wood coffee, a completely gluten free coffee shop!

After a long day of hiking, we were pleased to return to the Airbnb for food and a good soak in the hot tub, ready for our last day.
Day 4

Our final day was a Bank Holiday Monday, so we were keen to check out early and get on the road to avoid the Bank Holiday rush.

Our first stop was to visit Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, only about 10 minutes from the Airbnb. We were here for less than an hour, but we definitely recommend going early for a much more chilled experience.

Next we drove around 40 minutes to Moel Famau. It was a beautiful day, and even arriving at 8am we found it to be already very busy.

After a great hike, we got on the road home. We had an amazing weekend exploring Llangollen!
