Where to park

The AllTrails route starts from a very small layby on a lane:

This was full when we arrived, so we parked in this small pub carpark:

(Please ensure your hike is out of hours, or be a customer of the pub!)

What a great hike! We followed the route anti-clockwise (as per AllTrails) and were surprised at how gentle the ascent was! This hike is however still not for the faint hearted, due to the need to cross the stream twice (which was very high and fast moving) and this required a bit of a jump / some scrambling along the side of the stream.

We went the day after some light snow, and this certainly added to the scenery (and made parts of the path a little slippery). We hardly saw anyone in the valley, but did find Pole Bank very busy due to a road/car park being just down from it.

Flossie.

I loved this walk, although there were parts which weren't particularly dog friendly - I had to be lifted over a stile, and some dogs may struggle with the scrambling.
