Ady & Meg.
We were amazed to find a castle that Flossie was allowed into, so we simply had to visit this place!
We arrived at around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a large and slow moving queue at the entrance - a little disappointing given that we had booked online.
Once in, we visited the castle's rose garden and walked up to the Belvedere, which was a much longer walk than we were expecting!
Admittedly we found the other outdoor elements of the castle grounds a little underwhelming, but what we were really there to see was the inside of the castle!
Once inside, what really struck us was how friendly and helpful all of the staff were - they weren't just there to make sure you didn't touch anything, they actually wanted to engage with you and tell you interesting and funny stories about the place!
The star event was of course seeing the striking blue staircase, and a member of staff even showed us the secret passageway (although we weren't allowed in there).
All in all this was a great afternoon out, made particularly special because we could see everything together (rather than having to take it in turns to sit outside with Flossie). It is a must for castle-loving dog owners!

There were a lot of interesting smells in this place - and I really was not keen to walk across the landing...? 👻
