We had such high hopes for this place...
Gluten free fish and chips are fairly easy to come by these days, but we picked this shop due to the great reviews. Their website stated that they took allergies very seriously, and over the phone the staff member was very reassuring in terms of the measures they took to avoid cross contamination.
When we arrived, the server did not seem to have an understanding of what items were gluten free. Luckily the chef on the other side of the fryers was a lot more clued up, although he did not prepare our whole order.
We ordered gluten free cheesy chips, and a gluten free cod. The fish was cooked to order and you could tell - it was still hot and tasted fresh. The chips on the other hand were unfortunately disgusting - old, overcooked, and worst of all - cold! They were so cold in fact, that the cheese didn't even begin to melt!
Perhaps we caught them on a bad day, but after this experience we aren't keen to return...
