Where to park

Directions of walk

The walk to Thors cave is well sign posted.

  • Leave the car park head right walking away from Wetton village
  • Take the first right (staying on the road) up past a few farms.
  • Turn left on leek road and walk until you see a gate on the lefthand side
  • Follow the path heading between fields with two stone walls
  • When you get to a wall with steps (stone stile) head over and turn left following the field down
  • Head down the hill and back up the otherside until you get to a wooden gate
  • Go through the gate and immediately turn right and follow the path down
  • When you see stone steps, turn left and follow to the Caces mouth
  • To get back to the carpark, return the way you came.

This walk took us about 40 minutes in total

Ady & Meg.

This is a great walk rewarded with fantastic views from inside the cave itself. The walk to and from the cave is relatively easy with some nice views, and the cave itself doesn't take long to explore.

That said, we must warn you as to how slippery it is to climb in and out of the cave, because some of the stone is so smooth. We went on a dry day, so can imagine it is a lot worse on a wet day.

Once inside, some of the cave is a bit dark, so you may wish to take a torch with you.

Finally, as with many of our adventure we would recommend getting here early - it is a popular tourist spot, so it can get busy,

Flossie.

I liked the walk to the cave, and the cave was fun. Leaving the cave however was very slippery and took a lot of care.
